Some children have so much trouble writing even a simple sentence, so when they have to write paragraphs, then a whole story from start to finish (including planning), it becomes one of the most difficult and troublesome tasks for a student to undertake - no matter the age. 

Some students are able to get their ideas from their mind onto the page quite easily, but their use of grammar and basic punctuation symbols are lacking. Other children have the technical aspect correct, however, they just can’t seem to create the words on the page from the idea they have in their mind. Then there are the poor souls who are oblivious to writing even a short sentence.

Applied Scholastics has developed a new programme called the “Creative Writing Programme” and it teaches a child (or adult) to write a story the correct way. A story is an expression of a child’s creativeness, but so many skills need to be learned to achieve this. This programme is extensive and precise in its technology and is not a quick fix. 

In this programme we cover “Narrative Writing” as well as “Persuasive Writing.”

Consultation, Assessment & Programme

First, we provide a free consultation with the student and/or parent to discover what they think the problem areas are. It is then necessary to conduct an assessment in this area of English so we have a clear indication of what needs to be focused on throughout the tutoring sessions.

All tutoring is delivered on a one-on-one basis and depending on the age of the student, one to two hours per week.
